The waterfront encompasses those areas proximate to the Potomac River, Anacostia River, and Washington Channel. The waterfront rules regulate those areas.
Waterfront regulations are intended to provide for:
- Physical and visual public accessibility to and along the waterfront;
- Protection of natural resources along the waterfront;
- Open space along the waterfront; and
- Use restrictions in the 100 year flood plain
These provisions apply to all properties with frontage on the Anacostia or Potomac Rivers.
